Saturday, March 13th marked the first practice of the 2009 season at Queen City Avenue. With 24 boys in attendance, the coaching staff got the opportunity to let them run a few new plays. The boys were excited to be back together and get the season started.

The 2009 Season is set to begin. A member of the coaching staff will be in contact with you in the coming weeks to discuss fundamentals camp and conditioning.

The Broncos are heading out of town again…..

Leaving Thanksgiving night, we will be competing in the National Choo-Choo Bowl in Chattanooga, TN.

This past Saturday, November 15, 2008 the Cumminsville Bears hosted the Super Bowl at Taft High School in downtown Cincinnati. The weather was freezing, the crowd was sparse, but the Broncos and the Tigers came to put on a show.

After regulation game time, the score was still 0-0 and the game headed into overtime. Starting on the 20 yard line, the Lincoln Heights Tigers got the first touchdown of the game. The Broncos got the ball and quickly scored a touchdown as well. To make a long story short, 4 overtimes later, the Broncos pulled out a win defeating the Tigers 18-12 with Recold Moore running in the final tuchdown to win the game.

After a long hard year, all the work paid off.

Because the Broncos were undefeated throughout the season, they were also awarded with the American Bantam League Champions trophy. It’s tradition for Coach Trai to give away the trophy to a coach of his choosing. This year he presented the trophy to Coach Ivan for all his hard work this season. He never missed a game and rarely a practice and could be counted on to help out with equipment and water when he was asked. Thanks Coach Ivan. Congratulations.

CONGRATULATIONS BRONCOS – SUPER BOWL CHAMPS 2008!

On Saturday, November 8 2008, the Fairmount Broncos headed into the league playoffs undefeated, against the Findlay Street Wildcats. We played at Cincinnati Country Day School in the cold and drizzle.

The Broncos got away early in the game scoring two touchdowns quickly and leading 12-0. After halftime, the Wildcats got two in, but still got defeated 24-12.

Now, we head to the Super Bowl….

This weekend was a busy one. On Saturday we played at Walnut Hills High School against the Chiefs. With a 44-0 win, the Broncos head into the playoffs undefeated! Congratulations Broncos!

On November 2nd, The Cowboys Youth Football Program hosted a Midseason Showdown bowl at Aiken High School. We started the day with 12 scheduled games and were quickly disappointed when the King Knights from the Kings Island area called to cancel an hour before their first scheduled game. Therefore, we had to cancel the first four games of the day and start up at 3PM. The Avondale Warriors 5/6 also did not show up after promising to do so. Overall we had 4 games go on as scheduled and had a very successful day.

The Broncos played the best team in the Buckeye League – The Winton Woods Rams, at the Midseason Showdown. The team that was suppose to play before us did not show up, so instead of playing a bowl game, we played a full four quarter game. In the second quarter Devonte Allen caught a interception and ran for a 60 yard touchdown. Missing the extra point, the Broncos were ahead 6-0. With meer seconds to go in the final quarter, the Rams scored and put in the extra points to win the game 8-6.

The boys were disappointed until they realized their fans were still rallying around them at the end of the game. The Rams team is a year older and they are in fact, very good. With majority of our players being just 7 years old, they should have blown a team like ours out…but we’re too tough for that. The Broncos gave up a hard win and we are very proud of them.

On Sunday, October 26, 2008 we were scheduled to play in a bowl game hosted by the Red Machines at Walnut Hills High School. After beating up on the Red Machines earlier in the day for our regular season game, we all headed home to rest up and eat some dinner before meeting to play the Midwest Marauders in the late afternoon.

Everyone showed up ready to play. The second team got alot of playing time and at the end of the day, the Broncos went home victorious again, with a score of 28-6.
